#kaytips : paris couture
Paris is always a good idea, right? It’s breathtaking architecture, it’s light at 5pm before the sun sets, Le Marais, the incredibly good restaurants… the Paris at midnight (and I’m not saying this because Midnight in Paris is one of my favorite movie ever). We were in town for the Haute Couture fashion week with the team and to be honest it was one of my best trip ever.
Couture is way less stressful than prêt-à-porter, the shows are amazing as they celebrate craftsmanship and beauty. So many things happened in such a short stay! Some of our dearest friends were in town so we enjoyed some fun dinners and midnight getaways, we had an amazing stay at our home away from home: the Park Hyatt Place Vendôme, a perfect spot to relax after a crazy day, had several greatly productive meetings, I bought my first Céline bag on Avenue Montaigne (an electric blue Trapèze from the new collection), got the results of my finals when we were having lunch at Costes (I passed!!!) and above all, we were all so happy and had so much fun throughout the entire trip. I felt like it was the right time to share a little Paris guide, in a very couture style. So here we go!
WHERE TO EAT
I discover new places every time I visit Paris (and gain 3kgs at the same time). So here’s a bunch of my favorite ones: James and I agree on Miss Kô(51 Avenue George V), it’s super close from the Champs Elysées and this place is insane : very futuristic. They have the best crispy salmon ever and unique cocktails. Le Petit Palais(Avenue Winston Churchill), go there and order the figs and mozzarella for me. We also tried Saturne(17, rue Notre-Dame des Victoires) which is the perfect spot to share an evening with a couple of friends, the menu is a surprise! A very good one. La Société(4, Place St-Germain) is a little bit fancier, perfect for a date and very close to Café Flore. Our HQ this year was the Hotel Costes’ restaurant, they have the best tuna tartare! And of course, the best breakfast was at our hotel, Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme(5, rue de la Paix). Kristina was in heaven as they have the best gluten-free bread and I spent my mornings drinking their detox smoothies.
MACARONS
It’s not a surprise for anyone, spending time with Kristina means a macaron a day (or 10) so it’s always the hunt of the best ones in Paris. For me it’s definitely Pierre Marcolini(3, Rue Scribe) and they even have designer boxes so you can’t have better than that. Pierre Hermé (39, Avenue de L’Opéra) where the macarons have an original twist and different flavors such as olive or yoghurt, our favorite the chocolat/passion! And obviously, the king, Ladurée, is hard to beat. We can’t deny that their vanilla one beats anyone on the market. As well as the raspberry. And the pistachio. Yum.
RIDE IN STYLE
Last september during fashion week, we discovered a new app that literally changed our live and definitely eased our schedule. As we are always on the run, we usually reply to our emails in the car that bring us from a show to another, to a meeting, to the next event… CINQ-S have in-car wifi which is the best idea ever. You can order the car anytime in the day and the service is truly luxurious, so next time you’re in Paris don’t forget to download their app.
SHOP A LITTLE
In Paris you have to treat yourself, right? It’s one of my favorite cities to shop. For example Le Marais is full of little hidden gems for shopping. I never miss an occasion to swing by Colette(213, rue Saint Honoré) on Saint Honoré, they have the best beauty department. For a huge shopping session Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche(24, rue de Sèvres) or Gallerie Lafayette(40, bd Hausmann) and Avenue Montaigne are all pure magic. The Céline(53, Avenue Montaigne) and Saint Laurent stores are some of my favorites. It’s very hard to stop once you start!

Bonjour,
Sophie.

This is a nice and nicely written article about the nice spots in Paris. But let's be realistic, it is totally cliché for a parisian insider !!.:-) I know the places you mention and I go shopping at the Bon Marché, my favourite fashion destination and la Grande Epicerie next door for food and wine shopping and tasting. There are many more restaurants though which deserve a visit and best of all, affordable;-)!!!.
Congrats on passing your exams!

I usually enjoy a lot the Kaytips but I am pretty disappointed with this one! Almost all the places you talk about are so famous I wouldn't say you really give us "tips", and furthermore they are very expensive. I live in Paris so I know that there is a lot more to discover than avenue Montaigne, le Bon Marché or Ladurée to discover, I think you could have chosen more interesting and unusual places.
Btw we don't write "Galleries Lafayette" but "Galeries Lafayette"!
Still a nice post, xx

I have to admit, when buying macarons I'll more than likely make my choice on the aesthetics of the box. I mean, you can never have too many macaron boxes.... right? That's probably not right, but who can resist designer ones? I'll add that to my must see/do in Paris list.
Thanks for sharing these tips!

This all sounds so amazing, Fiona! I was in France about 4 1/2 years ago, but didn't go to Paris (we went to Monaco - so far from Paris) so this is a great and simple guide that's not overwhelming for me to file away on Pinterest. What a perfect trip to spend time admiring walking pieces of art, enjoy good food with friends and buying your first Celine. It sounds like you had a great time. Congratulations on passing your exams! I can't wait to see you show off your new bag too. Side note: I'd die for a pistachio macaron right about now, haha!

This post is great but let's be realistic for a second. Everybody can't afford those places. Maybe next time you should do a post where you talk about nice restaurants that are less expensive or where to find high end stuff for less money (Zadig&Voltaire stock on rue du temple for instance). Anyway I live in Paris so I personally am fine with those luxury places that you show us since they are dreamy but for other people maybe it would be useful.
